Funeral Services were held for Laura Lubitz age 93, of Perham, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corliss, rural Perham, with Pastor Justin Whitmore officiating. Congregational hymns were accompanied by Amy Sobieski. Pallbearers were Trent Gropper, Jack Lubitz, Brian Selander, Damien Lubitz, Andrew Lubitz, Jerome Crandall, Wayne Engel and Andrew Dahl. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Laura’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Ken Gropper, Ranaye Pudas Kluenberg, Todd Gropper, Mark Burmeister, Dan Gropper, and Travis Myers. Laura was laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery, Corliss, rural Perham. 

Laura Ida Gropper was born on September 1, 1929 at home in Homestead Township, rural Perham. Her parents were the late Carl and Emma (Butzke) Gropper. She attended District 129 Country School on the Butler Line 8 and graduated with the Class of 1947 from Perham High School. 

On June 15, 1948 Laura was united in marriage to Herbert Herman Lubitz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Corliss Township. Together they farmed in Corliss Township and raised their four children: Karen, Kevin, Kerry and Kelvin.  On January 1, 2019 Herb passed away in Detroit Lakes, Minn. 

Laura was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, including Mary Martha Circle and Homemakers. She enjoyed needle work and puzzle books.  

On March 2, 2023 Laura passed away at Elk Ridge in Perham Living at 93 years of age.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Laura in death were her parents: Carl and Emma; husband, Herb; daughter-in-law, Kim Lubitz. 

Laura is survived by her loving children: Karen (Larry) Selander of New York Mills; Kevin (Jolene) Lubitz of Frazee; Kerry (Sandy) Lubitz of Perham; and Kelvin (Missy) Lubitz of Perham; 11 grandchildren:  Lori Crandall, Lesa Engel, Brian Selander, Stacy Brown, Ginny Lubitz, Damien Lubitz, Amanda Lubitz, Kassandra Myers, Michaela Friese, Alexandra Dahl and Andrew Lubitz; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ralph (Maureen) Gropper and Willy Gropper; sister-in-law, Bernice Lubitz many other relatives and a host of friends.
