Lori Ness, age 64 of Wadena, passed away on December 8, 2021 at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. 

Lori Ann Haakana was born on October 1, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minn. Her parents were the late Reno Richard and Virginia Ruth (Lee) Haakana. Lori graduated from the Bloomington High School with the class of 1975. Lori graduated from Law Enforcement School in Bloomington, Minn., and was a rookie police officer for a year. Lori joined the family dry cleaning business and enjoyed operating the Golden Eagle Dry Cleaning in Bloomington, Minn.    

Reno passed away on November 1, 1996. Lori and her mother, Virginia resided in Maple Grove, Minn. and in the end of April 2000 made their home in New York Mills. On April 12, 2003 Lori was united in marriage with Samuel Ness at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. Together they made their home in Henning.   

On July 1, 2004 Virginia passed away.   In 2005, Lori and Sam made their home in New York Mills. Lori enjoyed working at the Whistle Stop Bed & Breakfast, selling items of ebay and mowing her lawn. She had a wise sense of humor and loved watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Wild.   

On December 8, 2021 Lori passed away peacefully at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, Minnesota at 64 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Lori in death were her parents, Reno and Virginia Haakana; brother Richard “Rick” Dean Haakana; uncle, Roger Lee and uncle-in-law, Harold Karvonen.   

Lori is survived by her husband Samuel Ness; Samuel’s daughter, Amber Ness; 3 grandchildren: Gwendoline, Tiberius and Bjorn; aunts: Nancy Karvonen and Jan Lee; many cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
