Luella Louise Zibell “Lu”, age 88 of Arden Hills, Minn., passed away peacefully in hospice on Wednesday May 28, 2025.
Luella was born on August 27, 1936 to Gustaf and Alma (Haapalakso) Lepisto in Leaf Lake Township, the third of four children. She graduated salutatorian of her class at New York Mills High School in 1954, and moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for Archer Daniels Midland as an executive secretary. On October 14, 1967, Luella was united in marriage to Donald Zibell (“Don”) in New Hope, Minn. They were longtime residents of Roseville and Shoreview, Minn.; she volunteered tirelessly for her church and many organizations in the area. She took particular pride in her heritage, helping with Finnish Christmas celebrations at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for many years in the 1970s and 80s, and participating in activities with the Finnish American Cultural Association.
Luella is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deanne & Christopher Weber of Northfield, Minnesota; grandchildren Anna & Thomas Weber; sister-in-law Mary Lepisto; brother-in-law Les Zibell; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald (in 2024); parents; siblings: Russell (Helen) Lepisto, Winifred (Emil) Porkkonen, and Rodney Lepisto; and nieces & nephews.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. on June 13 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Roseville, Minn., with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
