Lyle Henry Teberg, born on April 19, 1953, in Wadena, Minnesota, to Henry and Doris (Mattson) Teberg, passed away on April 7, 2026, in New York Mills.

Lyle was baptized at home on March 22, 1964, and confirmed in 1967 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills. He graduated from New York Mills High School in 1971 and married Marlene Roberts on July 3, 1971, at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills.

Lyle’s career began in San Diego, Calif., he worked as a shop foreman at MLI Industries from 1972 to 1973, where they manufactured automatic car wash systems. Returning to New York Mills in 1973, he joined Gene’s Standard as an auto mechanic. In 1997, Lyle and Marlene purchased the station from Gene and Sharon Imsande, renaming it L & L Service. Later in 2005, Lyle transitioned to a substitute rural mail carrier while continuing to own and operate L & L Service with Derrick as manager.  In 2011 they sold the station to the current Casey’s General Store. Lyle continued carrying mail as a sub along with working for Hammers Town Homes in Perham, New York Mills, and Battle Lake.  In 2016 he became a full time “mail man” for the United States Postal Service.  He took great pride in his work and cherished seeing his customers along his mail route, especially the children and pets who brightened his days.

Lyle was an active member of his community, participating in organizations such as the New York Mills Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association.  Lyle also served on the Newton Township board and was chairman for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed driving through the countryside to spot deer and wildlife, camping adventures with Marlene, trips to Laughlin, Nevada for shows, concerts, and a bit of gambling, and spoiling his beloved cat “Frankie.” They spent evenings snuggling in the recliner together.
