Marion Senn, age 89, of Menahga, Minn., passed away on May 9, 2024, at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Park Rapids, Minn. Memorial Services were held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills with Pastor Kirk Douglas officiating. Congregational hymns were accompanied by Janell Brakel. The honorary pallbearers were Heather Boe, Katelyn Huynh, Marissa Walker, Sean Johnson, Johnny Papenfuss, Noah Thompson, Alexander Pierce Johnson, and Celeste Trembley. Marion was laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills.

Marion Elsie Elizabeth Bajumpaa was born on February 8, 1935, in Leaf Lake Township, rural New York Mills. Her parents were the late Ulias and Elsie (Maijala) Bajumpaa. Marion grew up in Butler Township and attended New York Mills High School.

On January 16, 1953, Marion was united in marriage to Fred Papenfuss. They made their home in Corliss Township, rural Perham where they farmed. Marion and Fred were married for 25 years and were blessed with 10 children.

Marion was employed as a nursing assistant at the Perham Memorial Hospital for 15 years.

On June 1, 1980, Marion was united in marriage to Norman Lee Senn at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Marion and Norman made their home in Corliss Township where they farmed. In 1990 Marion and Norman moved to Heinola. Norman passed away on December 31, 2006, at the Perham Memorial Hospital in Perham. Marion continued to live in Heinola where she enjoyed nature, gardening, and anything country until she moved to her last residence at Greenwood Connections in Menahga, Minn.

Preceding Marion in death were her parents: Ulias and Elsie Bajumpaa; husband: Norman Senn; son: Martin Papenfuss; sisters: Margaret (Richard) Houtkooper and Mildred Samuelson; brother-in-law LeRoy Samuelson; granddaughter: Melissa Boe.

Marion is survived by daughters: Marilyn (Steve) Kaldahl of Vergas, Minn.; Julie (Steve) Voisinet of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Jennifer Johnson of Richville; Jeanine Thompson of Underwood; Linda (Andrew) Ruther of Irvington, Ky.; sons: Mark (Donna) Papenfuss of Forsyth, Ga.; Michael Papenfuss of Richville; John Papenfuss of Perham; Frank Papenfuss of Perham; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother: Roger (Janet) Bajumpaa of New York Mills; brother-in-law Richard (Bette) Houtkooper of New York Mills; many other relatives and a host of friends.
