Funeral services were held for Marlene Wiirre, age 82, of New York Mills, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with Pastor Kirk Douglas officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Janell Brakel. Pallbearers were Kyle Selander, Alvin Mielke, Mason Wiirre, Jason Jungers, Terrance Heidemann and Matthew Jungers. Marlene was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery in New York Mills.  

Marlene Evelyn Dorow was born on October 10, 1939 at her home in Sioux Falls, S.D. Her parents were late Henry Fredrick and Violet Amy (Barber) Dorow. Marlene attended St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from the Perham High School with the class of 1958. On October 22, 1960 Dale was united in marriage to Marlene at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Marlene was first employed with Kemper Drug in Perham and later she was employed at Tillman Egg. In 1960, Marlene was employed at Security State Bank in Deer Creek for 6 ½ years. Marlene then was employed as Farmers Coop Creamery and the Locker and Station as a bookkeeper. She was then employed at the New York Mills Elders Home and Perham Living for over 30 years. 

Marlene passed away on September 27, 2022 at the St. Could Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn., at 82 years of age. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Preceding Marlene in death were her parents: Henry and Violet Dorow; husband, Dale Wiirre; sisters, Violet Mielke and Marian Heidemann brothers-in-law: Fredrick Mielke and Arnold Heidemann. 

Marlene is survived by her children: Brenda Ganyo of Plymouth, Minn.; Wanda Weber of New Brighton, Minn.; Kevin Wiirre of Grand Forks, N.D.; 5 grandchildren: Sabrina Weber and her significant other, Corey; Hannah Ganyo, Josh Ganyo, Bryan Lee, and Tim (Brandy) Lee; and Michael Nelson, Jr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
