Reino William Anderson was born on April 16, 1931, in New York Mills. His parents were Andrew and Senia (Koski) Anderson. Reino spent his younger years on the family farm in Newton Township, attending school in District #105. When his father, Andrew, passed away in 1940, Senia moved the Anderson family into New York Mills. Reino attended New York Mills High School. Before school hours he would work at the local bakery making bread. In the evenings he worked setting pins at the bowling alley. For a summer job when he was 14, he worked on the railroad in northern Minnesota for the Northern Pacific railroad. After high school he joined, and proudly served, in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He worked as a radar technician on the James Connally Air Force base in Waco, Texas.

When Reino returned home to Minnesota he attended the Northwestern Television and Electronics Institute, achieving his diploma in February 1957. He performed electronic technician work for General Mills in Minneapolis and then Telex Inc. in St. Paul Minnesota. In 1959 he joined Honeywell, Inc. and began his work as a tool designer.

November 25, 1959, Reino was united in marriage to Frances Jean Brookes. Together they moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota where they raised their two children, Patricia (Trish) and Andrew (Andy).

After retiring, Reino and Jean sold their home in Coon Rapids, Minn., and they divided their time between their lake home in Park Rapids, Minn. and winters in Weslaco, Texas. They volunteered at the local elementary school and were involved in mission outreach in the community.

Throughout his life Reino enjoyed traveling and camping. His extended camping trips with Jean and his grandchildren took him to all 48 contiguous states, many Canadian provinces, and numerous State and National Parks.

On August 7, 2026, Reino passed away at home with his family by his side, and while under the care of Health Partners Hospice. He was 95 years of age. He has lived the past 10 years with the Polnaszek Family. Ray enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, playing Bingo with the great-grandchildren, enjoying lots of pizza, Chick-fil-A and movie nights. Reino will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Reino in death were his wife Jean; his parents, Andrew and Senia; sister, Elsie Isaacson; brothers, Reuben, Wilbert, Verner and Ernest Anderson.

Reino is survived by his brother: Rudy (Mary) Anderson of Blaine, Minn.; daughter Patricia (Jim) Polnaszek of Andover, Minn.; son Andrew Anderson of Fargo, N.D.; 9 grandchildren: Emily (Neal) Sivula, Timothy (Bonnie) Polnaszek, Catherine (Nathaniel) Hughes, Joy (Andrew) Carlson, Mary Polnaszek, Michael (Melissa) Polnaszek, Teresa (Brady) Schock, Anthony Polnaszek, Jacob Polnaszek and 26 great-grandchildren: William, Andrew, Claire, Grace, Caroline, Jack, Henry and Benedict Sivula; Tobias, Zelie, Felix, Mariana, Althea, Oscar and George Polnaszek; Isaac, Abigail, Felicity, Damien, Martin and Joseph Hughes; Ellie, Nolan and Mariah Schock; Luciana Carlson and Micheál Conor Jim Polnaszek.

Memorial services were held for Reino on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 10 a.m. with visitation an hour prior with Pastor Grace Anderson officiating at Kozlak Radulovich Maple Grove Chapel (13745 Reimer Drive, Maple Grove).

Reino will be laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills.
