0Funeral services will be held for Richard Imsande age 94, of Battle Lake, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail, with Rev. Dr. Karl Weber officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Richard will be laid to rest in Haycreek Cemetery, Sebeka.
Richard Clyde Imsande was born on July 15, 1929 to Clyde and Bessie (Butler) at their home in Blowers Township, rural New York Mills. Richard was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. On his sixteenth birthday, Richard met the love of his life, Mildred Martin, and they were married on January 26, 1948. They raised three children at their rural New York Mills farm. Richard farmed and worked at Lund Boat Company, New York Mills until they sold the farm and moved to Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada to work at Lund Boats. Richard and Mildred retired to Lake of the Woods, Manitoba, Canada until moving back to rural Ottertail, in 2007. Mildred passed away on March 27, 2016. Richard enjoyed gardening and lawn work until his health moved him to Good Samaritan Home, Battle Lake, in January 2022. In his long life Richard enjoyed the game of baseball, hunting, fishing, building, and cutting firewood. He lived his faith in Jesus as his Savior and was blessed with enjoying what God created.
On July 13, 2024 Richard passed away at the Good Samaritan Home at 94 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Richard is preceded in death by: parents; in-laws: Edward and Margaret Martin; wife: Mildred; son-in-law: Larry Hanson; grandson: Adam Menze.
Richard is survived by a son: Henry (Nancy) Imsande, Bemidji, Minn. Daughters: Margie Hanson, Ottertail, and Linda (Dale) Menze New York Mills. Sister: Florence (Fran) Rice, Baxter, Minn. Brother: Howard (Kay) Imsande, Brainerd, Minn. Grandchildren: Aaron (Theresa) Menze, Ottertail; Rhonda (Jeff) Menze Herman, Chelsea, Mich.; John Imsande, Bemidji, Minn.; Rachel (Jeff) Schanz, Cloquet, Minn. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
