Roger Cavalier, 72, of New York Mills, passed away peacefully at home under the care of Moments Hospice. Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Perham. Roger was laid to rest at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery, Perham.
Roger Alex Cavalier, born on May 14, 1954, in Perham, Minnesota, passed away at home under the care of Moment’s Hospice on September 2, 2026 in New York Mills. He was the beloved son of Alexander and Florella “Flo” (Thompson) Cavalier and the third youngest of fourteen siblings.
Roger attended school in both Perham and New York Mills. Known for his quick wit, wisdom, and a remarkable ability to read people, Roger had a big heart and was deeply kind to those around him. His sense of humor and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A talented painter and drywaller, Roger was skilled with his hands and took pride in his craftsmanship. Beyond his professional talents, he found joy in gardening, canning, cooking, baking, winemaking, and fishing—activities that reflected his patience, love for creativity, and nature.
Roger was not only a skilled artisan but also a devoted family man. He was a very good father and a fantastic grandfather who cherished his family deeply.
Roger is preceded in death by Alex and Florella “Flo” Cavalier; his sisters: Eloise Schultes, Judy Braddock, Janet Videen, Ruth Cavalier, Sandy Strickland; Sally Cavalier, his brothers: Rodney Cavalier, and Terry Cavalier and his brother-in-law, Pat Richards.
Roger’s passing will be mourned by his sons: Quentin Cavalier and Alex Cavalier; grandsons: Jackson and Lucas; siblings: Wanda (Ron) Wallace, Linda (Marty) Engebrit, Sherry Richards, Ronnie (Lavonne) Cavalier, and Gordon (Jackie) Cavalier; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will dearly miss him.
