0To the Editor,
Hello, my name is Jim Stewart, and I am running for District 4 Otter Tail County Commissioner. I recently retired from a 33+ year career in law-enforcement – 25+ years with Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. I am an Army Veteran and was deployed to Desert Storm. I grew up with a farm and cattle ranch background.
I do not take this decision to run for county commissioner lightly. I realize how important it is to have a strong voice representing the constituency in District 4. I have been in public service nearly my entire adult lifetime. This shows my dedication to my fellow citizens.
As a Lieutenant with Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, I spent nearly six years in charge of the Detention Center with 40+ employees, and three years in charge of the Patrol Division with 25 employees. I was in charge of vender contracts, management issues, employee issues, budgeting, and operations. These two assignments gave me the training, skills, and experiences needed to be an effective county commissioner.
Throughout my career as a law-enforcement officer, I developed and expanded my listening and critical decision-making skills which are essential in the role of county commissioner. You need time to research the issues of the county as they come up. Being recently retired I have the time. In summary, I have the dedication, experience, and time to be an effective county commissioner. Please consider voting for me on August 11, for County Commissioner District 4.
Jim Stewart,
Henning
