To the Editor,

Congratulations to the Tumbergs on the sale of Mills Lanes. I read with interest their story of 22 years in the bowling business. We were in it for 15 years, the first three in the basement of the city hall. As Dolly mentioned, there were challenges. One for us was recruiting and organizing the leagues for the new season in the fall. She also said they will miss the customers the most. That was exactly how Lloyd and I felt when we sold Lloyd’s Lanes in 1974. The camaraderie and the friendships formed are still a precious memory. Lloyd passed away almost 16 years ago as have many of our former customers and it is then when sadness takes over and touches the heart.

My family and I want to thank Dolly and Owen for keeping the great sport of bowling alive in our mutual hometown. It was Lloyd’s passion.

We wish them and the new owners the very best.
